How We Can Help

About this service

Community wellbeing services provide a variety of structured groups and activities within the local community for people aged 18 and over experiencing mental health issues within the Borough of Brent.

What we do

We provide a range of services to support you in your recovery journey and to enable you get the most out of life. Current group activities include:

  • 8-week Wellbeing group- provides information and discussion connecting physical and mental health topics such as stress management, how to be confident, food and mood, and money management.
  • Believe In Us- A group specifically for those who experience paranoia, unusual beliefs and hear voices. We offer a safe space for people to share their experiences and be open about their thoughts and feelings; facilitated by trained Peer Facilitators
  • Gardening Group- A group which enables individuals to learn how to grow plants and vegetables in a safe and clean environment provided by Harlesden Town Gardens.
  • Drop-In sessions-  a safe and comfortable space for anyone with experience of mental health difficulties to engage in creativity and arts projects, board games, socialising and a regular group quiz

How to access this service

You can apply directly or be referred by your GP, social worker, care coordinator or another mental health professional.

We will require further information about your needs to ensure that the services are safe and suitable for you. This may include a risk assessment being completed by a professional working with you.

A case in point

John started using Brent Mind services four years ago.  He became a Peer Supporter and has co-facilitated a number of the groups that the Wellbeing services provide.  He has also co-facilitated external training on behalf of Brent Mind.  This experience has been integral in him being accepted to study at college and is undertaking a course which will earn him qualifications in the social care sector.  His busy study schedule makes it difficult for him to volunteer at present but he still makes time to meet up with the BWW Mind Recovery Support Worker for additional support as and when he needs it.
